YEA! Minnesota (Youth Environmental Activists) is a youth run coalition of Minnesota High Schools with the common goal of improving the environment through education and action.

We will try to organize carpools once we know where everyone is coming from.
 

Freshmen, Sophmores and Juniors from Metro High School Environmental Clubs will gather with our graduating seniors to PASS THE TORCH for student organizing to get ready for next fall!

Metro Area High School environmental Clubs involved with www.yeamn.org will meet up with student leaders from Youth Environmental Summit from Southwest MN and students active with Schools Cutting Carbon to 

  • Learn fun new ways to bring in more students into your environmental club
  • Brainstorm school and community projects and find resources to help lead them
  • Team Building exercises – Frisbee, etc!
  • Nature hikes to explore the beautiful trails and ecosystems
  • Plan our national youth leadership summit for October 25, 2010
  • Review and celebrate accomplishments from the past year and create a vision for next year with YEA! MN
  • Hear from co-founders of YEA! MN about their experiences with their college environmental clubs

Facilitators – YEA! MN Steering team members: Peter Boisclair (Hopkins HS), Siiri Bigalke (Stillwater HS), Katie Paulson-Smith (SES)

All students will be required to bring the Release of Liability form signed by their parent or guardian or will not be able to stay overnight.

Up to 3 students per school are invited to participate.  We would like representation from as many schools as possible!

What to bring:

Signed Consent Form

Signed Behavior Agreement

Food to contribute to Wed night pot luck

$5 to offset cost of food for the weekend

Sleeping bag

Sleeping pad (you will be sleeping on the floor)

Pillow

walking/hiking shoes or boots

toothbrush, clothes, etc.
